Dr. Gabriel Ritter Announced as New Director of the AD&A Museum

The AD&A Museum is pleased to welcome Dr. Gabriel Ritter as the AD&A Museum’s new Director. Dr. Ritter comes to us from the Minneapolis Institute of Art (Mia), where he has been Curator and Head of Contemporary Art since 2016. Prior to working at Mia, Dr. Ritter held curatorial positions at the Dallas Museum of Art and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. Dr. Ritter has curated a large number of influential exhibitions, with an emphasis on the work of emerging and underrepresented artists from the US, Europe, and Asia. With a doctorate from UCLA, Dr. Ritter´s areas of expertise include Museum Studies, Japanese modern and contemporary art, about which he has written extensively. He will begin his tenure as Director of the AD&A Museum and will join the faculty of the Department of History of Art and Architecture this Fall.

The Museum would like to express our gratitude and recognize the excellence with which our Acting Director, Dr. Silvia Perea, has contributed her energies and expertise over the course of the last two years, particularly with the challenges that the pandemic has posed.
